Beckstead Workshop in Santa Barbara

We always strive to bring the best skills to our clients, so last month we headed off to Santa Barbara to attend a David Beckstead workshop. Everybody met bright and early at David Jay’s house, “Freedom House”, as it is affectionately called by us photogs, for the day’s briefing and introductions. Then it was off to a really unique park where we took pictures in the gnarly trees and then hiked down a steep embankment to get to a cool stone tunnel and running creek bed. After the park, we went to a Santa Barbara Mission where we had full access to all the grounds and got some awesome pix in the old church and private quarters. We finished the day up at the City Hall where we used some off camera lighting to get some interesting shadow pix. We learned so much and got a lot of great shots. Check out some of our favorites below.

Dana Point Engagement Shoot

Well, it wasn’t sunny, but Nicole and Brian created their own warmth at their beach engagement shoot at Dana Point. As we walked down the grade to Salt Creek Beach, the lush green grass and tall reeds created perfect natural backdrops. Down at the beach the couple was up for anything, including dipping their feet into the chilly water, which made for some fun motion pictures. We finished up the shoot in a cool tunnel and got some neat shadow shots using directional light. Check those out and more in the SLIDESHOW.
