With all the erratic weather of late, we were lucky to get a break of sunshine to photograph Lilian and Ray’s engagement session. Since the couple is getting married at the beautiful La Venta Inn this summer, they thought some engagement photos in an urban setting would be a nice contrast so what better location than Downtown LA!? It’s not uncommon for clients to start the session feeling a little camera shy, after all, one of the main benefits of taking engagement photos is that it get’s couple’s “warmed up” for the wedding day photos, but any shyness Lilian and Ray felt was gone in no time! They even showed off some slick dance moves for us (check them out after our fav images below).
We photographed Alysa and Brad’s wedding a couple of weeks ago at the luxurious Grand Del Mar Resort. It was warm and sunny, a perfect day for an outdoor wedding. Alysa was actually a bridesmaid at Karen & Adam’s wedding (which we photographed last spring) so between that and her and Brad’s engagement session in Santa Barbara, the couple was plenty comfortable in front of the camera.
After starting the day with some getting ready shots in the resort’s swanky rooms, we headed down to the Reflection Lawn for their ‘reveal’ before the wedding. They both looked awesome and Alysa was rockin’ a sophisticated and sexy backless gown…Brad was beaming as he got his first glance of her. The couple wanted to take advantage of the Grand’s gorgeous variety of settings for their photo session including a romantic, dimly lit wine room where we got some intimate shots with the video light.
The ceremony took place under the arches of the Aria Pavilion followed with a reception in the upstairs Manchester Room and adjoining Terrace which overlooked the golf course. From the floating candles to the elaborate branch and floral centerpieces the reception decor evoked warmth and romance. Alysa also surprised her new hubby, an avid golfer, with a golf ball shaped groom cake. After the first dance and heartfelt toasts which brought the bride and groom to laughter and tears, everybody crowded the dance floor and partied the rest of the night away.
