We photographed Lilian and Ray’s wedding in Palos Verdes at the beautiful La Venta Inn. They chose the location for it’s beautiful hillside setting overlooking the ocean and coastline so you can imagine the concern everyone had as the previous “June gloom” extended into July on the morning of their wedding. But as we started the prep coverage, the bride and groom were all smiles…they weren’t going to let gray skies and misty sprinkles spoil their day! As luck would have it, by the time the ceremony started the fog disappeared.
The ceremony started with smiles and laughter as Lilian’s three adorable nephews served as ring bearers. Lilian looked stunning as she walked up the aisle, and Ray’s love for her was clearly visible as he looked toward his wife-to-be.
After the ceremony and photo sessions, the party started in the venue’s romantic banquet room. The reception decor was a romantic and vibrant theme of rich red, pink and orange florals and large hanging red lanterns. Of course toward the end of the night, Mike and I took the couple to the gazebo for our signature ‘after dark’ session. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect to capture newlyweds in love, which was easy to see judging by Lilian and Ray’s affectionate interaction with each other.

Jackie and Roger’s wedding at the Disney Concert Hall in downtown L.A. was truly magical. We had photographed dozens of engagement sessions at the location, but this was the first time shooting a wedding there and Gina and I knew how awesome it would be for a wedding. Luckily, the morning gloom gave way to sunny blue skies by the time we arrived downtown.
After catching some prep shots in Jackie’s hotel room, we headed over to the concert hall for the couple’s ‘reveal’ followed with their photo session. The couple opted to see each other before the ceremony so they could support each other as they geared up for the ceremony and also have free time with their guests at the reception afterward. Jackie was literally glowing as she tapped Roger on the shoulder so he could see his bride, all glammed up and judging by the big smile on his face, it was clear how beautiful he thought she was.
The ceremony was an intimate affair at the Donor’s Circle and was filled with both laughter and tears during their emotional vows. The reception was held in garden area where guests enjoyed magnificent views of downtown Los Angeles. Jackie is one of the most creative and resourceful brides we’ve had. She organized and planned every detail of the day, from designing and creating the floral arrangements and centerpieces to their invitations, place cards and menus and they were all perfectly color coordinated in vibrant aqua blue and red.
The rest of the evening continued on with reception festivities and just as the sky turned to dusk we managed to whisk the newlyweds away for some romantic evening shots with the bright lights of the cityscape in the background.
