The couple lives in Nor Cal, so we were excited that they wanted to fly down for their shoot. They admittedly didn’t have a lot of experience in front of the camera. but were quick studies and their natural chemistry allowed us to capture genuine moments. After a few shots at the concrete staircase and walkways and in front of a cool purple cottage, we headed down to the beach and under the pier for some golden hour photos. The beautiful estate in Topanga Canyon is known for it’s lush greenery, beautiful gardens and Mermaid art and sculptures which can be seen indoors and out. As the couple shared smiles and exchanged vows during their garden ceremony, it was easy to see their happiness and how deeply they cared for each other. Of course that emotion came in handy during their photo session too ;)

After the poolside cocktail hour, everyone headed up to the Great Room for the reception dinner and festivities. Carmen did a wonderful job on her decor theme which included pink, cream and peach floral centerpieces with silver accents and vintage style vases. An eclectic bird cage topped with florals and doves served as the card holder and instead of a traditional guestbook, the couple requested that guests leave their fingerprint on a framed drawing of their “wedding tree”. The venue is a hidden gem in the bustling city, surrounded by tall ivy covered walls with fountains, courtyards and lush greenery inside. The couple wanted a gorgeous outdoor venue so this was the perfect choice.

The day included personal touches for the bride & groom and their guests, including Mariachis in honor of their heritage and a song performed by a friend during the ceremony.

One thing clear to see about Melissa and Oscar is what a great match they are. From the moment their eyes met at the ceremony they were full of smiles and even during their photo session they were so comfortable and loving with each other it was easy to see that they “just fit” one another.

The church’s sanctuary was large and majestic but the dim lighting and neo-Gothic style of the building created an intimate feel for the ceremony.

The couple opted to do a ‘first look’ beforehand and Sandy was so cute as she tip-toed up behind her husband-to-be and wrapped her arms around him for a great, big hug! As you can see from the photos below, he was quite taken with his gorgeous bride…they couldn’t stop smiling!

The reception took place nearby at the historic Ebell of Los Angeles. Much of the decor was handmade by the bride and groom and included a heart motif along with a pink and taupe color scheme. Her coordinator Lynette of Events by Lynette and the team at Ebell did a wonderful job of ensuring everything was flawless.

One of the most touching moments of the night was when Will and Sandy took their turn at the microphone to thank guests and Sandy gave a tearful, heartfelt “thank you” to her parents. It’s capturing beautiful moments like that which remind me how special my job is.

We were met by blue skies, sunshine, and a very fun, giggly couple. After taking advantage of the cool Asian architecture of the bell and lush green grass and wildflowers around the grounds we headed to the bluff below for some sweeping views of the coastline and then ended at a rocky jetty. Peggy and Ru were naturals in front of the camera and gave us lots us laughs and fun poses. They even got a bit adventurous climbing up over the rocks to get to the sand for some beach shots. After starting at Aya’s hotel room for some prep shots, we headed over to the Gardens for the bride and groom’s ‘first look’. Then we took advantage of the properties lush setting for their couple’s pix, with one of the cool spots by the tall bamboo. Rays of sunshine lit through the leaves and exposed warm sun-flare. Because Marc and Aya booked us the month before their wedding day they didn’t take an engagement session but you would never know because they were naturals and so comfortable with each other in front of the camera.

Rather than the usual rose petals being tossed during the procession, the couple opted to have the children in the wedding party feed the fish in the pond as they walked up. :-) After the ceremony, we photographed the formals by the bridge and all four of the girls and boys in the bridal party were so cute and well behaved; they smiled on cue for every picture.

Marc and Aya included their personal touches for the reception decor including a Mickey and Minnie Mouse cake topper, colorful origami cranes, and beautiful red and white rose and daisy centerpieces. After dinner and the traditional festivities, the couple and their guests danced under the stars. The couple opted for a ‘first look’ before the ceremony so they could spend some supportive time together and get some extra photo time before the ceremony. Danielle giggled with excitement as she greeted her groom-to-be for their ‘first look’ and when WeiLi turned around to see her all glammed up in her wedding gown, he was grinning from ear to ear.

The beautiful ceremony took place nearby at the famous Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove as the couple exchanged vows in front of their many friends and family. The grounds of the property were gorgeous and the architecture literally radiated as we photographed the couple and their wedding party afterward. Danielle and WeiLi were naturals in front of the camera and even brought some of their own ideas to the session. What really showed through was their fondness for each other and their happiness to be man and wife.

During the reception at Mon Cheri Restaurant, the festivities continued with the couple’s first dance, toasts and even a version of the game show, ‘Minute to Win It’ starring some of their friends.

They chose the location because they both attended school there and have so many fond memories there. Will and Sandy are such a sweet couple and were full of smiles during the session; they even brought some cool props for the shoot that fell in theme with their courtship and wedding stationary which made for some cute, fun shots. And luckily, there were no signs of the June gloom we had been experiencing for most of the month so the golden sunlight spilled over the campus adding even more warmth to the photos.
